ABOUT

Naturally soft. Quietly luxurious. Made to last.

At Malua, we believe great sleep begins with thoughtful materials. That’s why we work with one fibre: 100% flax linen, made from yarn spun in certified European mills carrying the European Flax® / Masters of Linen® certification for fibre origin and yarn spinning. From seed to stitch, our process honours tradition, sustainability, and craftsmanship.

WHY FLAX LINEN

What Is Flax Linen?

Flax linen is one of the world’s oldest and most sustainable natural fibres, derived from the flax plant. Grown mostly in Europe, flax requires significantly less water and pesticides than cotton, and the entire plant can be used, making it a zero-waste crop.

Linen is known for its breathable, antibacterial, and thermoregulating properties, which help you stay cool in summer and cosy in winter. Unlike synthetic blends or heavily processed fabrics, linen becomes softer with every wash and only gets better with age.

WHY CHOOSE OUR LINEN?

Grown with care. Woven with craft.

At Malua, we work with one fibre only: 100% flax linen - chosen for its strength and ability to last for years. We select linen made from long, well-combed fibres, which gives the fabric a smoother feel and beautiful resilience in everyday use. But it’s not just about the raw material - it’s how we finish it.

Unlike many brands that cut from pre-softened stock fabric, we sew each piece first, made to our order in small batches, so the linen stays fresh - never from old warehouse rolls. Only then do we stonewash the finished bedding, creating a relaxed texture and lived-in softness that feels right from the very first night. No stiffness. No breaking in.

Naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial, our linen is gentle on skin, breathable, low-maintenance, and made to last - exactly what modern rest should feel like.

WHY WE SEW IN PORTUGAL

Sewn in Portugal

Our bedding is proudly sewn in the north of Portugal, a region long celebrated for exceptional textile craftsmanship. Here, experienced makers work in family-run ateliers where sewing bedding isn’t just a job - it’s a tradition passed down through generations. Portugal’s textile industry supplies some of the most demanding markets worldwide, and its standards are simply world-class.

By producing in Portugal, we stay close to the source and keep our process transparent. It allows us to prioritise ethical working conditions, fair wages, and meticulous quality control - so every batch meets our standards and is made to be lived with for years.

OUR CERTIFICATIONS

Yarn certified at the source

Our flax linen is made using yarn from certified European spinning mills, carrying the European Flax® and Masters of Linen® certifications. Together, these cover the fibre’s European origin and the yarn-spinning stage in certified European mills, with traceability required from field to yarn.

Flax has been cultivated in northwest Europe for thousands of years, in a climate naturally suited to it. It grows on rainwater alone, needs no GMO seeds or defoliants, and the whole plant is used. At the end of its life it returns cleanly to the earth. Choosing certified European yarn is our way of honouring that quiet tradition, and of keeping our supply chain short, transparent, and accountable.

PRODUCTION

Transparency in Production Is Our Goal

We want you to know exactly what you’re sleeping in.

From seed to shipment, we offer complete transparency around our materials, partners, and process. We work only with trusted European suppliers who share our values of sustainability, traceability, and accountability.

You won’t find vague sourcing claims or empty marketing language here. Just well-made, well-loved bedding, designed with integrity at every step.

  • Grown in Europe

It all begins with European-grown flax, spun by certified partners in Europe - a naturally strong, breathable fibre at the heart of our bedding.

  • Woven in Portugal

Once harvested, the raw flax is shipped to northern Portugal. Home to generations of textile craftsmanship. There, it’s transformed into linen fabric in reputable, ethically run mills, where tradition meets precision.

  • Stored in Poland

Finished products are warehoused in the heart of Poland, allowing us to dispatch quickly across Europe with minimal environmental impact. Small-batch production ensures fresh, seasonally aligned stock, not mass-produced surplus.

  • Delivered to You

From the field to your front door, your bedding carries the story of care, craftsmanship, and intention. Because we believe luxury isn’t about excess, it’s about knowing exactly where your linens come from, and why that matters.

BEHIND MALUA

Why Malua exists.

After years of settling for mass-produced sheets with unknown origins, we decided to create something different. Something better.

Rooted in European craftsmanship and built on intention, Malua was born from a desire to bring depth, transparency, and integrity back into the everyday ritual of sleep.
